Henri Maccheroni est né en 1932 à Nice. Après
avoir été marqué par les dernières
tendances du surréalisme, il est devenu au début
des années 70 le protagoniste de l'art sociocritique
où il s'est signalé notamment par une série
de "bocaux" et les 2000 photos du sexe d'une femme.
Depuis cette époque son travail explore par les moyens
de la peinture, de la photographie et de la gravure, le statut
des signes dans la société et l'art. Il a fondé
à Nice, en 1982, le Centre National d'Art Contemporain
- Villa Arson dont il a assuré la présidence jusqu'en
1985. Il expose régulièrement tant en France qu'à
l'étranger et son travail fait l'objet de très
nombreuses publications.

he became at the beginning of the seventies the social critic
protagonist of art which he announced with a series of "bottles"
and 2000 photographs of the sex of a woman. His work has explored
the meaning and status of visual symbols in art using painting,
photography and engraving,. He founded in Nice in 1982, the
National Center of Contemporary art - Villa Arson, in which
he was the president until 1985. He exposes regularly both in
France and abroad and his work has been extensively published.
