Pier Paolo Calzolari est né en 1943 à Bologne
(Italie). Il a été, à ses débuts,
proche des travaux des artistes américains néo-dadaïstes.
Dès la fin de la décennie 60, il a abordé
les installations et les happenings où il a précisé
son désir de "contamination" de l'art par la
vie, élaborant un dialogue artistique commun aux artistes
de l'Arte Povera.
En utilisant des matériaux comme le tabac le sel, la
margarine, le musc, etc., et des éléments plus
technologiques comme le néon, Calzolari a créé
des œuvres qui prennent leur origine dans ses notes autobiographiques
et ses réflexions sur le rôle de l'artiste.
Pier Paolo Calzolari was born in 1943 in Bologna, Italy. He
was influenced at the beginning of his career by the American
neo-Dadaists. As of the end of the 1960’s, he created installations
and the happenings where the subject was the "contamination"
of art by life, working in a dialogue common to the artists
of Arte Povera.
By using materials like tobacco, salt, margarine, musk, etc,
and of more technological elements such as neon lighting, Calzolari
created works which take their origin from his texts about the
role of the artist in society.
